A thrilling ride will be even more exciting when you scream, I re-discovered as we “flew” through the beautiful rainforest of Mae Kompong, about an hour drive from Chiang Mai. But, even without screaming, it was exhilarating, fun, and as we let go of our fears, we were thinking about the poses we could make for our camera!

Yesterday I had the chance to experience The Flight of the Gibbon. It consists of zipping through 18 platforms, walking across two sky bridges and 3 vertical drops. It was awesome! …and our two guides had such great sense of humour and took great photos and videos for us. We were (and felt) very safe in their hands.

Being afraid of height, and looking down from high places make my legs turn to jelly, I was a little nervous at first, but fear was soon quelled when I saw the equipments and safety gears. We were at all times hooked to safety cables. Both the guides were also very professional. No problem with safety here! The adrenaline rush soon took hold. I soon found myself enjoying the rides, especially the faster and longer ones! : )
After the 2 hour ride, we were taken to a small half an hour trek at a waterfall, to work up our appetite for the delicious lunch of Green Curry and Stir-fried mixed vegies. Yum!
I would highly recommended Flight of the Gibbon for the young and young at heart - that means everyone! The guides told me the youngest they’ve had was 3 years old, and the oldest, 75!
You can also feel good about doing this true eco-friendly activity. There’s is really very low impact on the rainforest environment, and 10% of the Flight of the Gibbon profit goes into conservation projects.
