Chiang Rai is not exactly a seaside town or an island, but yes, it does have it’s own beach! If you’re looking for somewhere peaceful and non-touristy to while away the afternoon, this is the place to go.
Chiang Rai beach is around 10 min drive away from the centre of Chiang Rai city (which is not very big!) and along the banks of Kok River. There are huts along the beach where you can sit in the shade and enjoy the views, wave to the boats of tourists passing by, enjoy a glass of beer…or two, and have some nice (and cheap) food!
